Consciousness Explained by Daniel Dennett
The book is mainly about the author talking about all things that we so far know about the mind and how it works. He analyzed the history and theories of other scientists, but came to the conclusion that we are not yet at the level needed to even come close to explaining how consciousness work. It's a great book to read - abstract and thought-provoking.

Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
Hawksong is about a hawk named Danica. She and her family have been fighting against the serpiente named Zane and his own family. Both royal families are done fighting as to many people have been lost to the war. So the only way for peace would be for Zane and Danica to get married and end the war between the two families.
